Japanese Ebay Sellers

I have noticed a lot of 6000s and S/els being sold by Ebay sellers based in Japan. Rightly or wrongly, I would err on the side of trust when it comes to Japanese sellers, subject to due diligence of course. That said, I have seen watches advertised by different sellers using the exact same set of photographs. For example (and there are other listings and sellers):

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/393239391331?hash=item5b8ee4ec63:g:-xUAAOSwTdRgcGD-
and
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/402986420369?hash=item5dd3dcc891:g:uGQAAOSwIB1g62xc

So, what gives? What's going on here?

Interesting. I have used Spirit*Age several times and he is very trustworthy and always shows any defects in the pictures.

Not sure why they do this but most of these Japanese sellers (at least historically) have been legit. Used to be they'd offer pretty good pricing; nowadays it's kinda all over the place. Can be a little bit of a minefield with vintage watches too. But I'd say that if you were to buy the watch, you'd most likely receive it as you see in the photos.

I’ve also noticed this same phenomenon before. Not for watches but for buying JDM car parts 😁 Different sellers, same photo of the item 😕 Pricing among them are quite similar. Generally speaking, Japanese online sellers are honest-to-goodness. But the fact that there are multiple sellers with the same photo means they might just be resellers, trying to make a cut/portion for whatever they can sell. I’d still be cautious or message the seller first and see if you get a reply.

There is one Japanese eBay seller that has a not so good feedback score.... which is annoying as he has cool pieces like the Ukyo Katayama F1!

Not sure, I can only find spirit*Age and HH7373 at the moment, both are 100% I have used both... HH7373 delivery was ridiculous - 48 hrs from Japan to the UK, but I did have to pay customs charges. Spirit*Age is more like 10-14 days but no charges.

Yo AGman, another Ukyo Katayama being offered from Japan, which makes sense of course. Seems you're getting out of these F1s but perhaps someone else might be interested? Seems to me the ultimate '90s F1 driver watch! And it ain't "Just Us"

Somebody asked me where they could get one of these a while back but I can't remember who it was.
