Italian dealers & Monacos - what the deal???

First of all - no offense meant to all Italian friends. This is a polite enquiry.
I see on C24 that some of our Italian friends are selling Monacos at exorbitant prices. These are models other than the customised DLC PVD models. The latest to this edition is the new "Dark Lord".
- USD16000 for the Japan edition (green dial) Monaco (https://www.chrono24.com/tagheuer/tag-heuer-monaco-special-japan-edition-green--id20476817.htm)
- USD 13000 for the new "Dark Lord" (https://www.chrono24.com/tagheuer/tag-heuer-monaco-cbl2180fc6497-special-edition-new--id24118416.htm)
- USD 11000 for the CAW211A (https://www.chrono24.com/tagheuer/monaco-calibre-11--id23714622.htm)

There are a few Monaco Titanium and grand Prix de Monaco in the 10k+ USD category - but this is not limited to the Italians (no offense!!!)

I know that it's their prerogative to charge whatever they want for a watch, but I'm just curious with the state of the Monacos in the country.

Any feedback??

It's certainly not a practice limited to the Italians. Nor Monacos. I see exorbitant prices on anything now that is remotely "limited edition". These watches tend to sit around without a buyer for a long time, and maybe the dealers are happy to wait? 3 possibilities:

1. They wait until some mug comes along willing to pay the asking price because there is limited supply
2. It remains unsold indefinitely
3. They eventually have to drop the price to sell

I guess it helps keep my collection and bank balance stable, though. I would have bought a lot more watches if people asked sensible prices (like they used to a few years ago).

Completely agree - the watch market has gone for a toss the last couple of years. Been following and laughing at the vintage Heuer (especially Autavia) models. Still, I was just astounded by some of these figures. Like they say - to each their own. But honestly speaking, if someone were to offer me 15k USD for my green Monaco, I'd happily take it and then buy the green 50th anniversary Monaco for 10k 😎😎
