An update on this story- a reader contacted me with photos of the watch that his father bought at a Swiss Airport in 1977. He was not looking to sell the watch, just get it serviced and repaired, so I tend to believe these stories over someone who is trying to sell you something.

I'm leaning further to the view that these are indeed genuine (Reference 905). I've checked in with TAG Heuer to see if there is any update on their archive that validates this.

That settles a longtime debate then! Would be great to see some documents from the archive, preferably a catalogue. Have to admit I was in the non-believer camp

Following up on the old 7734 question - yes, the 7734 was the date version of the 7733 - manual wind, two registers w/ 30 min on the right / running seconds on the left.

To be fair, there was a link to the Calibre 11 article that Jeff put on his post at OTD.

But yes...it is what it is...

    Dear all,

I am quite new on this forum and really got into Vintage Heuer lately,

I start with a complicated case as I'm really interested in the HEUER ref 905 after seeing it on this offer:

    https://www.chrono24.be/heuer/heuer-ref905-chronograph-from-the-70s--id17154348.htm

It really looks gorgeous but I got interested in the watch and there are a few things I'd like to know your opinion on:

    - It is a genuinel reference, I understood it after all I read on your forum, thank you very much by the way! But is this exact modele the one that was posted on the first page of this forum?

    - I think of this because there are a few things that are not logic, if we look at this page
    https://chronocentric.com/forums/heuer/index.cgi?md=read;id=108057

We see that the model I'm being proposed has an orange second hand which is the one from the ref 2000 (3rd picture) and also the white dots at the indexes are the one from the BLUE version and in this case it is a FUME version.

I don't understand the logic, would that mean that the dial has been modified?? Could it be fake??

I also wanted to know your thinking on the price?? This is a gift for my dad which is a fanatic of cars and never had a watch.

Thank you very much in advance for your help,

    Alexandre

    Hi Alexandre,

I am a bit new here as well and am trying to confirm my own 905. I am not an expert, but what I see is the same as mine. And I love the fume smoke dial with pink accents! To answer one of your questions, my second hand looks deep pink and wanting to be red.
    Good luck!

We're still learning about these watches, so hard to be too definitive. For example, was the central chrono hand red when new and they have faded? I think this is probably the case.

Yes, I believe that they are a correct reference, but worth noting that I'm not aware of any literature that backs this up, such as an old catalogue. My guess is that TAG Heuer has verified based on a lot of secondary evidence, but no primary evidence.

I haven't followed prices, but I guess these are (moderately) on the increase as they are now an official part of the family.

    Salve a tutti

    Saluti Alessio

Great heirloom, thank you for sharing
This watch on Heuer bracelet is interesting. Are there names/numbers or other markings on the inside of the clasp?

Made in Italy is interesting...I don't think that I've seen that before on a Heuer clasp.

I wonder if this is a clue to the watch being made for the Italian market?

Yes, this looks OK, but as you say, missing the inner tachy ring
