iPhone SMS (iMessages) don't work on Connected

I have recently bought a TAG Connected 2020 but I cannot get it to provide notifications for iMessages. I receive all other notifications such as from WhatsApp, YouTube, BBC etc. but not iMessages.
I have followed the above advice, several times, as well as that provided on the Tag support website, but to no avail.
I cannot think what else I can do.
I’m using an iPhone 11 Pro with the latest software. The watch is also running the latest software.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hello, it is actually only iMessages, not SMS, correct? In this case, it will simply never work. This has nothing to do with the watch but with your iPhone. I have the same model as yourself and iMessages are not transferred to any bluetooth device, not my watch nor my car media system.

There are 2 solutions: disable iMessages and only use SMS (which actually makes a lot of sense because those things are practically for free nowadays and for other stuff, there is whatsapp or one of the many others. Alternative, accept that it will never work with an iPhone.

Just to be clear. I once thought i had it working too but unfortunately, i confused it with a normal SMS.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, it is just iMessages. Texts from non-iOS devices come through OK.
When I read the posts from you and Hubert, I assumed it was something I was doing wrong.
I've now switched off iMessages on my iPhone and got my wife to send a text message from her iPhone, but that hasn't reached either device!!
It's a lovely watch, but for iOS users Apple are unlikely to allow full integration with other non iOS devices.
Thanks.

Hah, it will come. If your wife and you always have sent iMessages to each other, her iPhone will first try to send as iMessage if she didn't switch them off either and after it did not go through, the iPhone eventually will send it as an SMS.

IMessage issue has been RESOLVED!!!

I heard from Tag earlier. They provided a list of steps to follow, most of which I had previously undertaken, except to set the SHOW PREVIEWS option in Messages to ALWAYS.

Having done this, iMessages are now being received.
