110.233R Cortina

My late Father has recently passed his Heure Cortina to me to hold for his grandson and I would love to find out a little more about this so that I can draw up a history to go with the heirloom.

It seems to be a bit of a mystery timepiece and I can’t find much on the web. In fact I was beginning to think it could have been a fake as there just don’t seem to be any on the market.

It has a white face and steel bracelet and seems to work well.

I wondered if anyone might know how many were made and when. Are there any special features that make it interesting? Was it sold all over the world? Why do there appear to be so few, when there are lots of other models out there?

Is it something that my son could wear when he becomes the owner on a day to day basis?

Thanks in anticipation

Cheers

Thank you very much
This is a great article but I wonder why I can’t find any on the web?
Perhaps some other forum members have one in their collection

You’re welcome!

If you do a search for “Heuer Cortina” at ebay, there are these for sale at the moment, but all with the black dial

The white dial version with Roman numerals is especially rare- some of these watches have a read date wheel, while most others are black

It's a lovely watch- there aren't that many in circulation, so you have something quite unusual and special.

As David (@Calibre11) says there are not so many in circulation. It was not one of the most popular models, but also manufactured for a very limited time.

There are quite a few models that get little to no attention compared to the likes of the iconic models such as the Monaco, Monza, Autavia, Carrera & Silverstone.

Sorry for the delay in thanking you.
Do you have any idea how many were made and why Heuer stopped production?
It seems strange to me, a novice, that a design like this is not very collectable but I guess it`s like anything else. Fashion
