Heuer Monaco 2001 Re-edition Dial

    One of the better special editions I've seen for the Monaco is this one:

    They were created for a French retailer, and you see them crop up for sale every couple of years. But if you have a "standard" CS2110 or CW2110 (Calibre 17 models) and feel like customising your watch, check out this auction, where a NOS 2001 Monaco dial is selling: http://forums.calibre11.com/links/131414974538

    Beware: the sub-dial hands are a different design for this watch than the standard black dial, but considering the dial has just over a day left and a highest bid of $12.50, it could be a bit of fun.

    Indeed, I bought it from David Howlett shortly after your article was published. It's a treasured and much admired watch which sits comfortably on a light tan perforated suede strap with TH clasp :) Just one thing, Dave, hope you don't mind my mentioning it - when held next to the silver dial CW2112, the CS2113 dial appears a warm grey, mostly matt in texture and has an overall understated appearance.
    If I might mention I came across the article again because I was searching for data on the movements in TAG Heuer and Heuer watches. I'm having difficulty finding authoritative such info for the CS2110, CS2111, CS2113 and the early Super 2000 chronogs. Is there a source you could point me to Dave? Many thanks :)

    Nice! Would love to see a photo Phil- great purchase.

    The movement in both the 2-register and 3-register Monaco is the ETA 2894-2. The more that I've looked into this, I don't believe that there is a different ETA code for the two movements, even though one has a 12-hour register.

    The Super 2000s have the LWO283

    Thankyou for the info Dave.
    I don't have any photos with current strap on, but I feel a photo session coming on for a number of reasons, so when the light is right, sometime soon!
    Am I correct in thinking the chronog module in all cases was the Dubois Depraz 2025? And did this combination stick until the introduction of the Calibre 17, around 2005?

    I've done a bit more digging and it seems that there are two codes:
    Calibre 17 two register: ETA 2894-A2
    Calibre 17 three register: ETA 2894-2

    Officially, the 2894-2/ -A2 is an in-house ETA movement, although I have read in some places that Dubois Depraz did some work on the chronograph module. The changeover for the Monaco was in 2009 when the Calibre 12 replaced the Calibre 17.

    The Calibre 12 started life as an ETA base + DD module and is now Sellita base + dd module.
