Hello Guys, I recently purchased a "Heuer Leonidas" watch from Ebay and need your input. I am new to Heuer but I discovered after purchase that Heuer and Leonidas did not merge until 1964. Seller says watch is from 1950's. However, this looks more like it's from the 1940's. Also the movement is stamped "Lenoidas" instead of Heuer. I believe Heuer watches after merging was stamped "Heuer." The dial has been definitely painted which I understand however, the watch needs to be authentic. The logo "Heuer" may have been painted to increase value and desirability. Not 100% sure but any expert opinion input would surely be appreciated. Anyone run into similar items? Thank you very much in advance.
Not an expert, but I think you've probably already answered your own question on this one. Probably a Leonidas with Heuer put on a repainted dial.
That is correct. It was never both name on the dial. Also the movement is not really Leonidas, because its name was Leonidas Watch SA not Leonidas Watch Factory. That is a hand-engraved bridge. And, Leonidas didn't even engraved the bridge nor Heuer in the 40's or 50's. That came later. I don't understand what drugs the watch fakers take? They always fake a 70 dollar bill, which doesn't exist.
