Hi everyone.

Does anyone know of any books covering the Heuer Camaro? Even if it’s a chapter or two.
There are options for the more obvious models such as Carrera and Autavia but I’ve never been able to find anything for the black sheep of the family, even though it’s the coolest watch they ever made 😉

Heuer Chronographen, by Arno Michael Haslinger, has a chapter on the Camaro. It pretty much covers all the vintage Heuer chronographs. A great book for any Heuer fan. 👍

Good shout. That’s been on my list for a while but I’ve never gone ahead and bought it.

Good call on Arno's book. I don't own it (especially at today's prices!) so am not sure of the full content or what has been established since.

TBH I've pondered it on and off since launching the website but haven't been convinced that there would be enough call for it to make it worthwhile-both financially and with the time that goes into producing it....and I'd want to do it justice! 😎

I got my copy many years ago from Amazon at retail price. Didn't realize it's so hard to get now, nor how expensive the book has become.
I feel fortunate to have gotten one.

Easy for me to say Steve, but there must be demand for a Camaro book? I appreciate the market/interest isn’t what it is for say the 60’s Carreras but equally there are several books looking at those models.

I wonder how many copies of niche watch books are actually sold or need to be sold to make them viable. Moonwatch Only (ok maybe not the best example as that’s the bible for a hugely successful watch spanning multiple decades) but Seamaster to Seamaster, Sala’s Universal Geneve, the Autavia books? Do they sell in the high hundreds, low thousands, tens of thousands?

FYI: I sent an email to Callwey in Munich to nudge them towards a re-edition of the Haslinger book. But personally I don’t get my hopes up 😁

Feedback from Callwey in Munich:

So, currently no new edition (or reprint) of the „Heuer Chronographen“ book by Haslinger from 2008 is planned - which means that potential buyers are stuck with the second-hand market at insane prices…

Heuer Chronographen - Haslinger, Arno Michael: 9783766717559 - AbeBooks

However, who says that that cannot change? Accordingly, I would suggest that whoever is interested in the book sends them an individual email (English should be fine since the book was originally bilingual GER/ENG anyway). There’s strength in number 😉

Then why isn’t it scanned yet and made available for on-demand printing? 😜

Hi David, it's a tough one to call obviously. I don't doubt there is 'some' demand and technically yes-while I'm not sure how much upfront cost these book require, I would feel pretty safe that it could be recouped fairly easily. But there is an awful lot of work upfront to create it in the first place and 100s of man-hours required. I know full well when I was getting everything together for the website-sitting there each evening for a few hours working through it all-totally a labour of love and I could only have done it on something I was passionate about. I have no doubt I'd enjoy creating it and seeing it come together. (plus I personally think the Camaro deserves a bit of limelight-not just for itself but to help people to learn about it who want to, which was a main driver for the site.)

That said, I'm not a book-seller and I'm not overly fussed about trying to push it out on IG or similar each time a sale comes up with the publisher, for example. TBH I'm personally going through a life-change currently so maybe when things settle down it's something I'll feel more compelled to do and have time to consider it more-who knows...? (not me!)
Steve

Anyone else notice this new banner? I didn't add it, it just appeared.
