HELP - Carrera Cal 1887 - Chronograph hands not resetting correctly

Hello All,

Newbie post here so please excuse any 'stupid' questions!

My partner has a Carrera Cal 1887 (CAR2012-4). Button 'A' works correctly in stopping and starting the timer hands. But when button 'B' is pressed, the chronograph 'seconds' hand resets to somewhere around '3' and the chronograph 'minutes' hand resets to somewhere around '5' on the little timer face.

Is there a special trick to 'recalibrate' the chronograph hands so they reset to the vertical position when button 'B' is pressed? Or is this a case of having to get the watch sent off for repair?

Also just out of interest, is the code 'RZM6004' on the back of the case the watch's serial number?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Hayley

You pull the hands off and put them on correctly. The feature that resets the hand is a heart-shaped cam on the staff, usually right above the wheel, and a hammer, just a lever with a flat side that presses against the cam.

How it got out of alignment is probably a larger problem. The chrono hands are fitted pretty tight on their staffs, just because of the acceleration. They may need to be replaced.

I'd recommend taking it to a watchmaker who has a TAG parts account as they can get replacement parts quicker.

No, a repair is needed.

Yes.
