Got my first Heuer, ref. 347 NR, anyone here knows more about it?

Hi,

Just got my first Heuer, a ref. 347 NR from 1938-1946, so a soon to be 80 year old.

Is there anyone here that can shed some more light on this reference, as there’s not so much to go on?

I’we understood this to be the first wrist chrono after the bigger crossover, the Flieger? So could one say this to be the first wearable Heuer chrono?

Any info much appreciated.

The hands are relumed, any other observations?

My next Heuers will most definitely be younger ones. 😀

Don't know much about these, but the watch looks in amazing condition given the age, especially the case.

According to the catalogues the 347 has a white dial rather than black.

It looks like the 433NT model in the below, but so many models looked similar, with changes to cases, hands, sub-dials and dials all slightly different.

This i got from the OTD website, still searching for more. 😀

What I understand is the catalogue the letters stand for the colours and dials, like N is for Noir=Black and second letter for the dial T=Tachymetre scale etc...

You’re completely correct.....I clearly missed the letters after and you are right about the N meaning Noir. My bad. 🤦

Great watch! These don’t get as much attention as the later chronographs but they should. That case design is increasingly popular for retro field watches and divers from both established as start-up brands. Tag Heuer isn’t tapping into that for the moment although they clearly have the heritage.
