Ebay is fine if you are sensible. Should you buy a current range Aquaracer that looks perfect for £700 - absolutely not. Should you buy a 20 year old S/EL that looks genuine - I would and have. I'm afraid it's common sense

Exactly, the only place anyone should buy a 300M Aquaracer from is an AD. I wouldn't even buy one from Watchfinder.

If this ripples out, it could destroy the used value of modern watches.

I think if a seller had a fully boxed set with original purchase receipt from a local AD, as well as good feedback, then that would probably satisfy me. It's not just whether the watch is fake one has to consider, but whether it's stolen or not also comes into play.

I’ll be honest guys. There are really ALOT of unscrupulous sellers and bogus vendors out there especially in the worldwide web. 🙁 I’ve been a victim as a buyer before but fortunately I was able to rectify and straighten out things. Your hard earned money just going down the drain is really tough. Our passion in watches, no matter how sense we put it, may not really be understood by many, only the cost you’ve put into it.

So in essence, I agree with an added security in place from eBay without the extra cost for authenticity. Some are skeptical about, some are wait and see. It may not be a perfect setup but I think an added buyer protection especially for a hefty amount of money is a win-win for both the genuine seller and buyer 👍
