Confirmation of model help!

Hi, does anyone know what the model of my watch is? I bought it about 18 years ago in New York and can't find the box and manual!

Looks like a 2000 exclusive quartz to me. Model number should be WN followed by four numbers. The first number should be a "1" denoting a quartz movement. The second number I'm guessing a 3 or 4 as this looks like a "ladies" size watch.

In any event, the model number will be printed on the case back and should be WN1xxx (x being a number from 1 - 4). Take a look and please let us know!

I did a bit of research for you and I think I may have found your watch. Check out page 51 of the 1999 TAG Heuer catalogue available from this website (again - thanks to DC for maintaining such a great site):

Model number appears to be WN1351. The second set of digits following the model number denotes a stainless steel bracelet.

FWIW, TAG Heuer watches from this era printed the word "professional" on quartz watches and "automatic" on mechanical variants. There were some exceptions, where some automatic watches (chronographs) had "automatic professional" written on the dial.

I defer to your superior knowledge! I think because they are generally listed on eBay as 'Professional' I had thought that's what it was called, though of course it is a 2000.

Hey Aquagraph - I wouldn't call it superior knowledge my friend! I just happen to own a 2000 that was my first watch and I wore it for 20+ years before expanding on my modest collection. For years I too thought it was called a Professional until someone finally told me it was in fact a 2000! I'm sure you are much more familiar with other models that I know you have in your collection and I don't own!

But I have to give a shout out for the Calibre 11 website. Most of my knowledge of TAG Heuer watches is from researching the information on this website, and members like yourself. Then there's your blog... 😉

Hi akong 71, this is one of those TAGs that I know very little about (actually there's lots of TAGs I know very little about!), when I first saw one on eBAY I was quite intrigued as I hadn't seen one before, and they are still quite an unusual model. Every one I saw listed on eBay was titled as a TAG Heuer Professional (probably because it's not entirely obvious to the uneducated what it actually is) and that almost seems to have passed into shorthand for these nice watches. I almost bought one not that long ago, it was listed on eBay as an unwanted corporate gift (I think it may have been engraved on the back, but was in excellent condition and reasonably priced), but I let it go in the end because it was quartz and because I didn't really 'need' it... as if any purchases are driven by 'need'!

I too have learned a lot from Calibre 11, but there's always more to learn and it amazes me how much more sometimes. I would be very happy if David would write a book about TAG, I think that would be excellent, especially as I think he would include things like the Microtimer that other 'scholars' would choose to ignore. Personally I think the above watch is just as interesting to read about as all those old Heuers, and there's all those fascinating models like the 6000 and s/el to explore...

I don't know what it is about the bezel on these but it changes the look dramatically and makes it look quite different from the more common 2000 series watches.

Lol yes. I've read about the rubber straps. Sounds like the rubber strap on your Calibre 16 F1 is feeling more comfortable for you?

Yes the bezel design does change the look of the 2000 for sure! The exclusive series bezel really changed the look compared to the classic 2000 which remained in the line up. I wasn't too sure I liked the look if the exclusive series, but it's sort of grown on me. I noticed that a person at work has an exclusive 2000 and it looks very nice in person.

It sure is, I've been wearing it today as a matter of fact, so much better and allowing me to finally enjoy my CAU2012.

The bezel on the exclusive makes the dial look smaller I've noticed, which along with the large numbers gives it a very different look. There's actually lots of 'old' TAGs I'd like to get, but so many are on the small side. No end of times I've spied something on eBay and then noticed it's sub 40mm, which is a bit small for me. I'd like an s/el, but every time I see one they are 34mm, which is going to look ridiculous on me.
