CBE511B.FC8279 Bezel Ring came off

Hi all,

A little advice please.

My watch slipped putting on my wrist this morning and dropped about 2 feet onto the kitchen counter.
The black bezel ring jumped off.

How is it secured to the watch? It doesn't appear to clip back, it just sits and spins freely if I put it back. Was it [badly?] glued on?

How best to rectify? Does it need to go back to LVMH? Is it a warranty issue?

Thanks

Claiming warranty after dropping something is probably not correct. No idea how it is attached but we have seen glued stuff fall off TAG Heuer watches before.

Lovely silver dial by the way. Real sexy.

A lot of times these are press-fit which require a bunch more pressure to put back on. I'd take it back to the AD and see if they can handle it there. Otherwise, find an independent watchmaker in your area and they'll be able to give it a shot.

I half agree and half don't; I'd expect something that expensive and that new to be rugged enough to survive a bit of a knock without bits popping off... on the other hand, it IS my fault it got knocked. If it was a glued piece, I'd argue it perhaps wasn't glued well enough. If it's a press fit then it's like not a manufacturing fault.

That's why I asked for advice... thanks all for your input, I'll let you know if i get anywhere

thanks,

I think what is important to understand is that with mid segment affordable luxury timepieces like TAG Heuer, the quality is not higher than that of a 400 dollar Seiko for example. What we pay for is design and mainly the expensive branding demonstrating to people that we can pay ridiculous money for a particular brand 👍

Keep us updated on progress, would be interesting to hear how it ends up being solved and I hope its a quick and cheap thing to fix so you can go back to enjoying your Autavia.

Update: Took it to an AD in the town I happened to be in (not the one I got it from), they said it needs to go back to Tag, they wanted to charge me to send it (because I didn't buy it from them, fair enough).

So, sent it back myself to Tag via their service portal. Will post what they say.

Update, wording from Tag's service portal:

Bezel Detached (sent with watch) Please be advised the bezel will be repaired under the terms of the sales warranty as a matter of priority.
The approximate completion time of your repair will be 3 weeks from the above acknowledgement date.

So they appear to be tacitly admitting it's a minor manufacturing fault. I suspect it just wasn't fastened securely enough.

Not had a lot of luck with this piece, I had to have the movement fixed under warranty because the chrono minute hand was 5 seconds out not long after I bought it. Now this. It's probably my favourite TAG though... that silver panda dial is just so beautiful!
