Hi Team, @dsio and @Trev are working their magic on migrating us to a new server with increased capacity. Hopefully there won't be any downtime, but if there is, you'll know why. A massive thanks to @dsio and @Trev for all the work they do to support Calibre 11 Forums
Don't think we've had any downtime, but a few of the forum features are not currently working- e.g. e-mail notifications of replies.
Lots of changes going in the background of the forum at the moment. Thanks to @imagwai for picking up that the list of Members now includes Omega Forums as well. We’ll see what can be done about that. One step forward that will be implemented will be two-factor authentication for forum members. The thinking is that it would be optional, but compulsory for moderators and (potentially) for anyone wanting to sell a watch on the boards. Thanks as always to @Trev and @dsio for their hard work and continued focus on making these forums an even better place to spend time.
How come Abrod520 now shows higher than Hubert? Is that cos his Omega board posts are more than his TAG posts, or does it combine them?
It’s actually even weirder (?) than that: My PM exchange (initiated in OF) with someone who’s only active in OF (so no Cal.11 account) shows up in my PM inbox both on OF AND Cal.11! I do have accounts in both forums, but still found that astonishing. Now I start to understand why that might have come to be.
This has always been the case, or at least for as long as I can recall... Your PM inbox is shared across both sites, but you should only receive an email reminder from the site the PM was sent on.
Oh BTW - the 2FA requirement originated on OF this week as a response to a new, sophisticated phishing attempt sent to some members' emails that resembles a PM. Someone's trying to hijack notable accounts in order to impersonate them and scam people on the sales boards. So please keep an eye out, and don't log into your C11 account after clicking on a PM email link!
Sounds like 2FA becoming necessary everywhere indeed… And like we'll end up with our mobile phones glued to our forearms in order to always have them around
