Black, brown or bracelet?

Next week's watch (3647S). Currently on brown strap with the Heuer buckle seen, just about, on the black strap. Should I be daring and try it on the grains of rice bracelet which it has not been on yet? Size is right at 18mm.

Personally I'd be searching for a black rally strap but the alligator will do for now 馃榾

BOR bracelet on the 3647 just does not seem to be right in my head. The same goes for any of the similar models (2446 etc) as I think a bracelet takes away some of the elegance and with it the class.

I agree with Abrod520's thoughts and a nice black leather rally strap, or a custom strap with white stitches (such as those from Heuerville).

Somewhere (TM) I might still have the original Heuer buckle I took off my first Carrera in 1975 in order to fit a bracelet. It would have to have survived several residence moves (including crossing the Atlantic twice) though. Although I competed in rallies from 1969 to 1977, mainly as a navigator, I'm not that keen on "rally" straps which I think came along somewhat later.

The GOR makes any watch I've tried it on look 20 years older than with a strap, so I think I'll stick with the brown strap with repro Heuer buckle for a while. Funnily enough the Oyster bracelet from a Submariner (sorry, off-brand 馃檮) doesn't have that effect on the panda Carrera despite being slightly older.

I'm more on the brown side; it's also a color "en vogue" for this fashion season.

Here's two custom straps from Stewart at Heuerville and a tropic strap (bottom left) as some ideas. Google Heuerville to see the significant selection of colours he uses. He's obviously not the only one that does custom straps but gives some good ideas....and he's in the UK.

These are 20mm versions, but you can obviously get them in 18mm and tapered to whatever buckle size you want. I fit reedition Heuer buckles on when I put them on my watches.

Those are fantastic! Can't wait for mounted pics. 馃憤
