Talk to me about them.

I've discovered this perusing through the internet late at night, and can't seem to shake this thing off my mind. It looks big...but how big is it compared to a speedy? (Comparison shots, if you could) If you've come from small watches such as myself- how do you find yourself growing into it? I have particularly small wrists at 6 3/4", so my reservations lie only with my significant other beating me to death in my sleep if I find one for a reasonable price, and the size of it (diameter and depth wise). What do you wear it on (strap wise)? Do you like the OE Heuer bracelet they come with?

Bombarding you with questions...I know. If it feels more natural- feel free to rant about it.

Hi Travis,

I owned one of these for a while- a really, really nice Calibre 12 Calculator (below) that somehow had been repaired by TAG Heuer by fitting a manual-wind dial...apart from that it was perfect. In fact, of all the vintage Heuers that I have owned, the Calculator got the most compliments, probably because a. it's a very distinctive design and b. in terms of size, it's very contemporary.

It's 45mm, but to me didn't feel this large, probably because the case is a fair bit shallower than say a modern 43mm Carrera (photo below by dddmmm8)

They came on several styles of bracelet, and i reckon that is your best option...I suspect that it may feel a little top-heavy on a strap.

A few wrist shots from around the web (ignore the incorrect hands)

I'm a big fan of these- for the money, it's hard to beat. There are enough good ones around to mean that you don't have to buy the first one you see- I see a lot with worn bezels and incorrect hands.

Good luck!

Just what I was looking for! That side profile shot is great- doesn't look nearly as thick as I would've thought it did. The OE bracelet or a shark mesh of some kind (im a sucker for it- looks good on just about every watch and looks especially handsome on this) would probably be my go to....with all that bezel, it looks to need a little bracelet to even it out- otherwise im going to look like a gorilla walking around with this thing on my wrists! haha.

Thank you for the response!

Any other feedback from any other members would be greatly appreciated, by the way 馃榿

It is really quite unconventional and different in terms of classic Heuers, a "black sheep" if you will- I love the quirkiness of it and the orange hands / dial details look incredible alongside the outer bezels. functionality of it too is different, but use-able and still maintains a classic vintage heuer look. I'm somewhat smitten from afar, if you couldn't tell 馃グ

Hi David. Found this old thread on the Calculator.
I鈥檝e just managed to buy one of these and was reading this thread and took a liking to the
Milanese strap on it. You don鈥檛 know where that strap came from in the photos you attached to your post.
I reckon it looks like the coolest thing.

Cheers

I don't unfortunately...it is a cool look, but I think I found the photos just through Google images searching for Heuer Calculator

Funnily enough I've recently become more drawn to the calculator - probably too big for a regular wear but a really unique piece and appears that some bargains can be had

Same here actually. I've always thought it was too big but the wrist shots on here make it look pretty good!

At 45 mm it is a big watch but size can be deceiving when it comes to certain watches.
It is wide but it's not an overly thick watch so doesn't sit that proud.
Personally I love big watches cause I have a large wrist, so it's perfect for me.

I will never forget the first time I saw the Calculator on the web I thought "what a monstrosity !!"
Then one day I had the opportunity to try it on and never looked back or could get it out of my mind.
Now I think it is one of Heuer's best. Everyone I show it to loves it.
As I mentioned on another thread, I's so beautiful in it's ugliness. I would say it's one of the finest pieces in my collection.

Thanks David. After doing some googling myself over the last couple of days for further info on this watch, I found an old post on Chronocentric which made reference to a mesh bracelet on a Calculator for sale , it might have even been the same watch. They said the bracelet was from a company called Ocean 7 watch company. Couldn't find the same bracelet on their site but it's a start. Cheers.
