Billionaire Stroll Takes Stake In Aston Martin In $655 Million Rescue Deal https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidd...e-in-aston-martin-in-655-million-rescue-deal/
Does that mean Red Bull would loose the Aston Martin sponsorship and TH could possibly move to Racing point as it's own now. Would TH follow Aston or stay aligned to Red Bull? What was news to me from reading that Article is that Aston Martin has been bankrupt 7 times before !!!
AM leaving Red Bull is also being discussed here: https://forums.calibre11.com/threads/baselworld-predictions-2020.108357/page-2#post-1426673 No matter what, AM needs to survive. Can't imagine a world without them.
Aston Martin won’t release EVs until it’s financially stable The automaker is delaying both its Rapide E and Lagonda sub-brand EVs. https://www.engadget.com/2020/01/31/aston-martin-delays-evs-emergency-investment/
As soon as you mentioned Stroll, I had a feeling he would be leveraging something for his F1 team, now to be called Aston Martin F1 - https://robbreport.com/motors/cars/a-formula-1-billionaire-bails-out-aston-martin-2896439/. No doubt there will be some press about his son driving an AM F1 car.
TH should remain on a top tier team like RedBull. Following AM to Racing Point / Force India might not be a good marketing deal for TH just because it’s being rebranded as Aston Martin. Just my 2 cents
Big news- and I guess better to have Aston Martin in F1 rather than a team called Racing Point. I do worry about Mercedes. I know there's been some speculation that the team will be wound-down or sold and some senior management have come out and denied this...but I can't help but feel there will be some deal done to sell the team and keep supplying engines (they have a contract with McLaren through to 2024). Until Hamilton signs, the question marks will stick around..
I don’t know why suddenly there are speculations that Mercedes will leave F1 and relegate to just an engine supplier again? Too tired seating on top? 6 consecutive Manufacturers Title is already written legendary for the books.
I felt the move to sell part of the team to Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda (together they own ~40%) a few years back was a little odd if you were committed long term. Hard to imagine Ferrari selling 40% of their team to management. There's been speculation for a while...but maybe it's all just hot air https://www.motorauthority.com/news...y-in-talks-to-buy-mercedes-amg-formula-1-team
It seems that Mercedes-AMG is committed at least for 5 more years in Formula 1 Ineos Principal partnership for 5 years: https://www.mercedesamgf1.com/en/ne...rcedes-announces-principal-partnership-ineos/ AMD Multi-Year partnership: https://www.mercedesamgf1.com/en/news/2020/2020-02/amd-partner-announcement/
I can't imagine anyone buying an Aston, who hasn't had a Bond complex to a greater or lesser degree. The fact that they don't have the same profit margins as Omega, is what must have made all the difference!
