Has anyone heard any information about a new heritage Autavia for next year?
Some glassbox Carrera heritage models have been launched in the last months which is really nice, but a 60th Anniversary Autavia would be also awesome.

 

Maybe because they've re-imagined the Autavia as a TAG Heuer now...?

Imho they should keep alive the heritage Autavia, as well as they have done with the Carrera model, we can choose among the new TAG Heuer Carrera series but we have still the new heritage glassbox models.

 

If you are in the UK you might be interested to know that the Harrods LE is available in the Bicester Village Outlet. It's the nearest thing you can get to the Calibre 11 LE at a sensible price.

 

Word is TAG is still planning on punishing us with that flyback Autavia though. Maybe they've decided to wait until the Autavia's 60th to fully and finally run the name into the ground.

 

I’m on board with the strategy. You only need one classic racing watch in the line-up and the Carrera fills that gap. Taking a bite out of the flieger watch segment sounds like a good idea and the Autavia has the heritage there. So far so good. But the concept was just a big mess. They’re not selling and the Autavia reputation suffers again. The flyback design I’ve seen is no improvement I’m afraid. I’m not saying these Autavias are awful, in the metal they’re actually not bad at all.
In time I’m confident it’ll work out. Heritage is a long term thing.

Possibly not. The renders show that it does but reports from the wild indicate that it might not.

3 are from known Authorized Dealers (Seddiqi, WoS & Harrods)
2 are from uber-popular online watch sites (Calibre 11 & Hodinkee)
And 3 are from TAG Heuer (Rindt, JH85 and Viceroy though the Viceroy was only available in the North American market)

The Autavia CBE2116 bought from the Tag outlet stores does NOT have Harrods written on the caseback (it's either been polished away or it's a new caseback), doesn't come with the bigger Harrods branded box and doesn't have the extra leather strap included. They can't legally sell it with Harrods branding or branded accessories as the sale doesn't go through Harrods anymore.

In the meantime Sinn has just released a new model celebrating their 60 anniversary, the 103 classic 12, limited edition to 600 units.
Very similar case to the 2446C and a superb 12 hours ceramic bezel. What do you think about it?

 

41mm case with a 17mm thickness is gonna be quite bloaty. But it looks nice, without the date window it might've been worth trying at some point.
