Before I share the story of this watch, what are you thoughts on this? Look closely...

Maybe not by popular demand (馃槈) but let me give a quick update here.

1. This is the "normal" digital Kirium, reference CL111A...as you can see, it has hands!

2. The Kirium I posted doesn't...but everything else looks OK..
3. I was about to put this in the "too hard" basket, when the owner told me how he got the watch: a gift from Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle
4. The watch was apparently part of TAG Heuer's sponsorship of Team Oracle in the America's Cup.

So, perhaps what we are seeing here is a customised digital-only version of the Kirium made for the team...I can see that an all-digital readout is faster and easier to read if you are on a fast-moving boat

Never heard or seen of one of these before...but quite cool if that what it turns out to be.

Any other thoughts on what the story might be?

Not really, but as the proud owner of a CL111A (my first TAG Heuer in 2004), I am all ears!

If that was the story, then wouldn't they have fixed it so that the display was always on? Although, I guess they'd still want to be able to scroll through the functions with the crown....

Putting aside the hands, does the rest of the watch look original to you?

Yes, agree that would be better. I'll ask whether the battery here is simply flat, or whether you have to press a button to "wake" the screen

Mine's on a bracelet so I can't say about the strap, but nothing looks obviously 'wrong'...

Ah, don't know if you know, but the watch does have a crown position where all the digital displays are off, which is how I always wear it myself. You can also have just the date displayed which is quite cool...

Looks cleaner without the hands. This makes me wonder if the next Connected might get physical hands?
