Of course everyone thinks about it differently, and I would never advocate going all out on watches, but I don't quite follow your logic. Once you spend money in a restaurant, it's gone (literally down the toilet!). Once you spend money on clothes, you're not going to get back that initial outlay. If you buy, sensibly, a pre-owned watch, then you should be able to "withdraw" that money again later. It may even go up in value, as some of my watches have done. I'm not saying it's a serious way to make money, but it is a way to enjoy your savings without losing much, if anything.
