·The Carrera MP4-12C was the same but plenty of those ended up on the open market.
I think that was because owners had the 'option' to buy the watch and a lot of them didn't. This time it's a 'gift' that comes with the car like the original McLaren F1 road car. Interestingly though, they released a slightly different version of the same watch for the public to buy...
