Some inaccuracies in this article from Hodinkee here

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/the-tag-heuer-carrera-heuer-01-full-black-matt-ceramic

The watch does use a modular construction and it's not right that "Full Black Matte Ceramic version of the Carrera Heuer-01 uses ceramic exclusively throughout (except, of course, in the movement)". That's what the headline in the PR says, but read further and you get:

"Technically, to guarantee perfect water resistance to 100 metres, steel is always present on all the functional parts of the watch (inner box section, screw-down case back, push-pieces etc.) to enable the gaskets (crystal gasket, case-back gaskets, push-piece gaskets and crown tube) to fulfil their function."

In other words, this watch uses the same modular construction as last years ceramic model. Nothing has changed in terms of case construction- only a gloss ceramic replaced by a matte finish.

And that is why @Calibre11 is the #1 source for TAG Heuer news and information!

Credit to the Hodinkee guys who have updated the article..although still think its the wrong call to say that the new model "is a departure from the original modular case construction concept used in the first Carrera Heuer-01"

More coverage at ABlogToWatch:

http://www.ablogtowatch.com/tag-heuer-carrera-heuer-01-full-black-matt-ceramic-watch/

They get the details right:

The case, bezel, lugs, and case band are all made from black ceramic with a micro-blasted finish, with all these being wrapped around a stainless steel core. The steel core is present because ceramic would not allow for such precision fitting of screws, gaskets, and threaded components as does steel.

I didn't quite understand this statement:

The new watch is reference CAR2A91.BH0742 (with the black ceramic H-Link bracelet) and is a full black version of the 2016 CAR2A90

The CAR2A90 model was already all-black, right? Is this new CAR2A91 even more black somehow? I can't tell from the provided images.

On a side note, the calibre11.com articles should really be part of the watchville app - as it lists the feeds of many watch media outlets.

It is hard to tell. For sure the new one is matte instead of polished ceramic...one of the photos made it look like this new one had darker hands etc (Phantom cs. Full Black?)

We'd have to see them next to each other to be clear

Maybe more resistant to fingerprints?

I created a side-by-side comparison using images I found on the web. Undoubtedly both are CAD renders. However, it looks like they are equally black with equivalent elements of gray used in the dial on both watches. I guess the only difference (aside from the bracelet and strap) is the left watch, CAR2A91, is matte black, while the right watch, CAR2A90, is glossy black.
