Quick update on a revised version of the Calibre 8 GMT Carrera

On the left is the 2015 WAR5011 and on the right is the 2016 WAR201Y. Only difference is that the older model is COSC certified while the 2016 isn't.

Not sure why the 2016 model still has the old TAG Heuer logo...you'd think that would change before it hits the stores

So, it's a downgrade?

The date window is really annoying and ruins an otherwise beautiful watch.

Here's a quick workout; without date, and with, if you insist.

I believe the Carrera Calibre 8 is supposed to be a "grande date" watch, so the date is purposefully featured on the dial and implemented with two underlying discs. The Calibre11.com article on this watch mentions that it's essentially a replacement for the Grand Carrera Calibre 8, which itself had a grande date.

Downgrade? Depends on price I guess. I'm not a fan of any date window on a watch (!) or small seconds, but I guess the key to the Carrera range is having plenty of options so that people wanting a date...or even a large date...have something to choose
