Hmm, thinking about it though, Jim bought a brown leather strap for the Heuer 01 but it didn't fit HIS Heuer 01.... so what are the chances?

His is a 43, isn’t yours a 45? All depends on lug width tbh, I have 2 remaining if you want me to measure. I think they are 21.

The problem with Jim's was that the springbars weren't in the right place, he has the titanium 43mm. He got a 2mm gap, could have been worse I guess - could have been 2mm the other way.
TAG Heuer say the only straps that will fit mine are the black, white or red rubber straps or a light brown leather one...

Yes its not the lug width that is the issue its where the holes for the spring bars are drilled, very far from the case. They sit in such a weird position which creates a huge gap between case and strap which makes it look off if you put anything else than the integrated straps intented for H01 on it. Plus TAG being douchebags ensuring that you cant mix 43mm H01 straps between different models. I bought the brown alligator strap that was sold with a skeleton 43 mm H01 but it does not fit my 43 mm H01 🤦

Ah got you, yes the gap does vary. Tag do move the holes around annoying (makes business sense outside of us lot, generally) but I managed to get an alt TH strap on my 43 02 - so maybe they unified the hole positions more with that model.

Can you post photos showing how big or small the gap is between strap and case on your 02?
