2 warranty cards after repair at TH service center

Last week I received my Carrera Calibre 360 back (purchased in '08) from the service center after repair regarding date change issue and hour hand not lining up.

It came with a warranty card for the repair of 1 year but also got a card with a code printed which has 2 years warranty applied if I look it up on the designated website.

Why would I get new 2 years warranty on my watch if it's already 12 years old?

They're being generous? Count your blessings.

How did the service go? Any new scratches, did everything get fixed? I've heard horror stories regarding TAG service but I suspect that's the amplifier of the internet at play.

This was a repair of a complete service overhaul, in November I got it back from that overhaul (like new again) but had to return it 2 months later as I noticed the hour hand was not lining up correctly and the date switch kept moving up every day irregularly.

Interesting. A twelve-year old watch has tritium hands? Out of curiosity, does it say "T Swiss T" at the bottom. In the olden days, this was done to differentiate them from radium watches, but I thought this went away over 20 years ago, along with tritium.

Are the tritium hands turning color (yellow, cream, orange)? Do you have any tritium on the dial and if so, does it match the hand patina? How off-color was the luminova.

You are lucky you got the old hands back and I understand your wanting to keep it original despite the tritium fading. That issue (the brand's service center replacing parts or refinishing) is a big bugaboo among vintage collectors.

The Kirium is much older than 12 years. @YY77 is talking about 2 different watches.

Sorry for the confusion due to my different replies @ExpiredWatchdog, @Mr_Orange is correct.

I posted difference in luminova, colour difference only slightly noticable but still green in daylight. Must admit I only wore the Kirium for the last 10 years when I used it on vacation. The Carrera was my beater.

The tritium is installed on the watch in this picture with the luminova hands at the bottom of the picture.

Second picture left side is same but in dark with a comparison of glow after 10 seconds one the right.

Wow, I would reinstall them and only look back occasionally at similar pictures. That being said, your twelve-year mark is coming soon, so I would prepare for luminova unless you prefer the vintage look (which many do).

Thanks for the reply. Not only do you help me (who doesn't own a tritium watch that isn't totally flat) but others who might be in a similar situation.

Did it say "T Swiss T"?

Just curious.

The Kirium is from '99 with T swiss made T on the dial (it has been 1st ever service in Jan '20 where they replaced tritium with luminova but it's back on tritium again). I don't think I will have it serviced again as it will sit for another 20 years only being worn on holiday😎. Current beater collection gets priority (Carrera calibre 360, Speedy A11 50SS, El Primero 1969 original, Panerai Radiomir Mediterraneo)😗.

The Carrera is from '08 complete overhaul nov '19 where the also replaced the hands but those were already luminova so not much changed in appearance.

I didn't even have to go to a boutique for that boutique-version only, but was able to order at the concierge.

The dial is mesmerizing🥰.

That Panerai is a beautiful watch. I'm not sure I could make the jump, but I'm entirely glad you did.

BTW, I have an SMPO Chrono that brings the church choir to it's knees.

That's my daughter in the background. Fun times at Raja Ampat.
